Akron beacon journal obituaries 20191/11/2024 ![]() Mary leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Henry Dunn, devoted niece and caregiver, Jeannette (Johnny) Camak-Perdue a host of nieces nephews great-nieces and nephews great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson (Birmingham, Ala.), Ida Johnson (Akron, OH), Glennie Johnson (Akron, OH) her God Children, and a host of cousins, family and friends. Mary, the baby girl of 11, was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Susie Johnson brothers, Isaiah (Mary), James and Samuel Johnson sisters, Annie Lee (Jonas) Davis Priscilla (William) Hale Victoria (Edison) Ester, Peggy (Henry) Reese, Octavia (Leslie) Camak, Zeola (James) Bracy and Mittie (Booker) Bryant. McNab Sr., where she was a faithful member until her passing. Mary united with Good Shepherd Baptist Church in May of 2012, under the late Rev. Mary also served as the treasurer of the Broadcasters Hall of Fame, for which her husband was the Chairman. Mary sang in the Benevolence Ensemble organized by her husband and she was an organizing member of the original Henry Dunn and the Dynamic Dundaleers Gospel Singers. Olive Baptist Church, under the late Rev. Upon arriving in Akron, she united with Mt. Mary accepted Christ at an early age in Alabama. She retired in 2002 after 34 years of service. She was affectionately known as "The Fashion Fair Lady," meeting all of the ladies cosmetic needs while always looking like perfection herself. Mary started her career working as a Fashion Fair Cosmetics Beauty Advisor at O'Neil's Department Store, which became Kaufmann's and then Macy's during her tenure. ![]() Mary was joined in Holy Matrimony to Henry Dunn on October 31st, 1959. and moved to the Akron community in 1957. Mary graduated from Brighton High in Brighton, Ala. Our Beloved Auntie Mary earned her wings on August 21, 2019. (Johnson) Dunn entered into this life in Lowndes County, Alabama, on June 17, 1936. ![]()
